Red Chutney Recipe Ingredients
- Onion – 2 medium-sized
- Tomato – 1 large-sized
- Dry Red Chillies – 8 to 10
- Garlic – 8 to 10 cloves
- Ginger – 1 small piece (about 2 inches)
- Mustard Seeds – 1 tablespoon
- Curry Leaves – 10 to 15 leaves
- Turmeric Powder – 1 small tablespoon
- Coriander Powder – 1 small tablespoon
- Oil – 2 tablespoons
- Salt – 1 tablespoon
STEP-1
Prepare Ingredients for Red Chutney for Dosa, Idli & Uttapam

Friends, to make Red Chutney for Dosa, Idli & Uttapam, first of all we will prepare all the ingredients. So, see, here we have taken 2 medium size onions, 1 large size tomato, 8-10 dried red chillies, 8-10 pieces of garlic, almost 2 inch ginger, 10-15 leaf curry leaves, ½ Tbsp Turmeric Powder, ½ Tbsp Coriander Powder, 1 Tbsp Mustard seeds, 2 Tbsp Oil and 1 Tbsp Salt. Friends, we have cut the tomatoes and onions in medium size and kept them here. And we peeled the ginger and garlic and kept them whole. If you want you can also cut them into big pieces.
STEP-2
Heat Oil and Add Tempering (Mustard Seeds & Curry Leaves)

So friends, now we will put a frying pan on the gas and put 2 tbsp of oil in it. So friends, as soon as our oil gets heated properly, we will add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it.
STEP-3
Saute Ginger, Garlic & Red Chillies Until Lightly Brown

Friends, now after adding seasoning to the curry leaves, we will add ginger and garlic in it and keep stirring it with a ladle till it turns light brown. Now as soon as our ginger and garlic turns light brown, we will add red chillies in it and then keep stirring it with a ladle till the colour of the chillies changes slightly.
STEP-4
Lightly Saute the Onions Until They Turn Soft & Light Brown

So friends, now as soon as our chillies start turning brown, we will add onions in it and cook them on medium flame by stirring them well till they turn light brown. Friends, here we have to saute the onions lightly. So keep in mind that we should not cook the onions too much.
STEP-5
Cook Tomatoes with Spices and Let the Mixture Cool Down

Friends, as soon as the onions turn light brown, we will add tomatoes to it and cook the tomatoes well. Friends, to make the tomatoes cook quickly, we will add 1 tbsp salt and cook the tomatoes. Friends, when our tomatoes are also cooked, we will add ½ tbsp turmeric and ½ tsp coriander powder to it and after cooking the spices well for 3-4 minutes, we will turn off the gas flame and keep the tomatoes and onions aside to cool down.

Blend Everything into a Smooth Red Chutney & Serve
